Country has always had drinking songs but the Jones, Haggard and Co. referenced being trashed and/or drinking continuously as pretty much a negative thing while now it seems being trashed is described as something to aspire to. Besides it's not all about alcohol anymore. There's a whole lot of chemical interaction going on which ads a new ugly slant to the whole mess.
