Carrie Underwood To Drive Her ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ To The Small Screen!

No, she won’t bother to cry. Carrie Underwood‘s criminally underrated hit “Two Black Cadillacs,” the twisted revenge tale from 2012′s Blown Away, is coming to the small screen in the form of a six-hour limited TV series. While the script is written by Ildy Modrovich, (CSI: MiamiNecessary RoughnessEleventh Hour) Underwood will sit in the executive producer chair, alongside Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI: Crime Scene InvestigationPirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl). It will be broadcast on FOX, as Deadline originally reports.

In the original song, co-written by Underwood, Hillary Lindsey (Dierks Bentley’s “Bourbon In Kentucky,” Underwood’s “See You Again”) and Josh Kear (Underwood’s “Blown Away” and “Before He Cheats”), two women (a wife and a mistress) are deceived by their lover into believing they are the only one for him. As it turns out, both have a dark side, and they seek revenge (through the supernatural ways) once they learn of his betrayal. The forthcoming production will be set “in the modern South,” the site states.

In the song’s official video (below), a demonic force aids the women in covering up the gruesome murder. There is no word on what part this will play in the TV adaptation, although glimmers of the 1983 cult classic film Christine (written by Stephen King and directed by John Carpenter) are certainly plausible. Underwood has long been known as a fan of horror films, so expect an even darker edge to the script.

Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed are also on board in producer roles.

“Two black Cadillacs driving in a slow parade. Headlights shining bright in the middle of the day,” the country powerhouse sings on the first verse, unraveling the sinister story. “One is for his wife, the other for the woman who loved him at night. Two black Cadillacs meeting for the first time.”

Then, it’s the chorus that digs more into the Southern gothic-style tale: “And the preacher said he was a good man, and his brother said he was a good friend. But the women in the two black veils didn’t bother to cry. Bye, Bye Bye, Bye. Yeah they took turns laying a rose down, threw a handful of dirt into the deep ground. He’s not the only one who had a secret to hide. Bye bye, bye bye, bye, bye.”

But it’s in the second verse that the women finally team up to reign destruction down upon their cheating beau. “Two months ago his wife called the number on his phone. Turns out he’d been lying to both of them for oh so long. They decided then he’d never get away with doing this to them. Two black Cadillacs waiting for the right time, right time…”
