Manic Street Preachers cancel Chelmsford V Festival appearance

Manic Street Preachers have cancelled their scheduled appearance at the V Festival in Chelmsford this evening (16 August).

The band – had been due to perform on the MTV Stage – announced the news via Twitter, revealing they were unable to fly out of Budapest Airport following their performance at the Sziget Festival last night."With huge regret, Manic Street Preachers announce the cancellation of their scheduled V Festival show in Chelmsford today (August 16th)," posted the group.
"After 5 hours on runway at Budapest Airport following Sziget Festival last night, MSP were informed the BA plane they were on would not fly."
They added, "The band made every endeavour to get back to the UK in time to play. The band apologise to their fans at V Chelmsford for the cancellation."
However, the group did confirm they would be appearing at tomorrow's V Festival in Stafford.
The Manics played a 19-song set at the Sziget Festival that included two tracks from their 1994 album 'The Holy Bible'. Speaking to NME before their performance, bassist Nicky Wire revealed that the band are pondering whether to mark the album's 20th anniversary with a series of shows later this year.
"We’ve got to decide soon as we’ll have to book some gigs," said Wire. "We’ll definitely know by the end of September. It's been a road test all year - that album was always about something more, so we've got to get that in our psyche. This is the first year that we’ve played those songs and felt comfortable, we've been doing six or seven. If there’s ever a time to do it, then it’s now."
