The Who record 'Be Lucky', their first song for 8 years

that the song is described as a "classic Who rocker" and features lead singer Roger Daltry, guitarist Pete Townshend, drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Pallodino and keyboardist Dave Eringa. The royalties gathered from the song will help the Teen Cancer America charity established by Daltry and Townshend.

Originally formed in 1964, they are known for their lively rock tracks, often filled with feel-good lyrics or uplifting quotes. Many regard the band as one of the British rock giants alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Their growth was fuelled by the popularity of their songs on the British pirate radio stations during the 60s when radio waves were cluttered and commercial stations had little interest in modern pop or rock music. The band fell apart in 1983 after Townshend declared himself unable to write any more appropriate material.

The song marks the group's first release since their 2006 comeback with the Endless Wire album. The band is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year though and are releasing a greatest-hits compilation, The Who Hits 50!, featuring tracks from across their illustrious career.

Featuring 42 tracks across two separate discs, "Be Lucky" will be the final track on the album, concluding the second disc. The tracks are organised chronologically, with the first originating from the band they held before the Who: "Zoot Suite" by The High Numbers. The album will arrive on October 27th and is sure to please Who fans worldwide. They are also going on an anniversary tour of the same name around Europe a few weeks after the album's release.
