If you missed the Yeezus Tour — or even if you were there and just wanted to relive the glory — Kanye West was set to satisfy your needs with a Hype Williams-directed movie coming to theaters. And while that may still be on the way, one Yeezy die-hard just couldn’t wait..
YouTube user John Colandra uploaded the nearly two-and-a-half hour film to the site, and explained that it took more than half a year to put together. “Compiling footage from almost every stop on the Yeezus tour to make one cohesive film,” he wrote in the description. “Using professional and gorilla style footage. The film flows beautifully and not a single major aspect of the Yeezus tour goes unnoticed. Detail was crucial and over seven months of work went into this project.”
The movie actually starts with footage of Kendrick Lamar, who opened for ‘Ye on the tour, performing his “Backseat Freestyle.” Next, we get clips of Kanye having run-ins with the paparazzi, and the media discussing his life, persona and relationship.
From there, it’s full on concert footage: Hits, album cuts, elaborate stage scenery, rants — it’s all here.
The project, simply titled “Yeezus Film,” is a pretty impressive work of research and editing. Everything flows together despite being taken from many different perspectives and individual clips.
If you’re still looking forward to the official Hype Williams joint — and you should be, though don’t hold your breath waiting on its release — you can check out the trailer below.
